On September 27, the Senate approved a bill passed by the
House earlier this week containing a FY09 Continuing Resolution (CR) that
provides funding for most of the federal government through March 6,
2009. The legislation, H.R. 2638, includes three appropriations bills
(Defense, Homeland Security, and Military Construction/Veterans Affairs) which
contain funding for all of FY09. The remaining nine appropriations bills,
including agriculture, are covered by the CR through March 6. On September
30, 2008 President Bush signed
into law the fiscal 2009 continuing resolution entitled the
"Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations
Act, 2009" (H.R. 2638).
The bill will extend funding for all government operations through March 6,
2009.
